Psalms 119:146

I cried unto thee; save me, and I shall keep thy testimonies.

The verse belongs to a psalm that exalts God's law. Its testimonies are a delight and a counsel to the believer. God's Word is the rule that defines right and wrong and guides life.

The cry to God for salvation is joined to keeping His testimonies when wickedness is bold and defiant against His holy law. Human changing of His laws has made life intolerable because of cruelty. The verse witnesses that the Lord will certainly arise to punish that defiance after very great forbearance toward continual insult to His holy commandments. God's long-suffering restrains His own power and omnipotence as He bears long with continually increasing defiance and perversity, while He gives continual light to those who remain obedient.
