Psalms 119:153

Consider mine affliction, and deliver me: for I do not forget thy law.

The cry for help belongs to the great psalm whose theme throughout is the exaltation of God's law. Its request that affliction be looked upon and deliverance granted is grounded in steadfast loyalty to that law, in not forgetting it.

That same fidelity stands against a world whose bold and defiant wickedness toward God's holy law has grown to the point where the Lord will certainly step in and rise up to punish it. His long restraint under continual insult to His holy commandments has been very great and marvelous, a holding back of His own power. Even while the cruelty of men who alter His laws makes life intolerable, He continues to give light to those who obey Him.
