Many are my persecutors and mine enemies; yet do I not decline from thy testimonies.

Those who love His testimonies do not turn aside from them under such pressure but remain obedient to what He has revealed. By continuing steadfast, they keep receiving light even while opposed on every side.
When defiance continually increases, human authority is set to change God's laws until cruelty makes life intolerable. God's great forbearance and long-suffering in bearing insult to His commandments does not continue without end. When that limit is reached He will certainly arise to punish the wicked.
