Psalms 119:25

My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.

The psalm in which this prayer stands is one that exalts divine law. The opening cry pictures a person brought very low, in distress, clinging to the dust as if unable to rise. The answering plea asks God to restore life, to revive the inner being in harmony with His pledged word. Languishing souls in this condition need to be confirmed and brought back to living strength according to that word. That word is the rule of life, setting forth what is righteous and marking the line between right and wrong and between truth and error. This reviving is especially needed by ministers of the gospel and by the Lord's physicians. It comes through holding firmly to the truths established after the disappointment of 1844, whose foundation principles remain unchanged.
