Psalms 119:38

Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear.

The verse is a prayer asking God to confirm and establish His word to and in His servant who is devoted to reverent fear of Him. That devoted fear means consecration of heart and mind to God. It shows in delight in His commandments, in wholehearted commitment to understand, follow and obey them, and in longing for life in His righteousness. The verse points out the sacredness of God's law, which is to be presented with solemn earnestness as testimony that the wickedness of the world has reached the point where the Lord will certainly intervene. The prayer belongs to the continual prayer that the Lord's servants should offer, revealing the consecration of heart and mind that God asks for. It is to be set before young men and women to study to encourage a spirit that desires to heed the way of the Lord.
