Psalms 119:73

Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.

The verse stands in a psalm that exalts God's law and sets forth the sacredness of that law. Its opening affirms that God's own hands made human beings and gave them their form. Its petition asks God for understanding in order to learn His commandments, expressing how those who keep the commandments depend on God Himself for the understanding required to obey His law.

God's Word is to be studied and followed as the rule of life. It lays out righteousness and draws a clear line between right and wrong and between truth and error. It is to be read with solemn earnestness as a testimony against the wickedness of the world, declaring that wickedness has reached the point where the Lord will surely intervene.
