Psalms 119:75

I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.

The verse declares the sacred character of God's law and affirms that His decisions are altogether right. He is slow to anger and of great power, bearing long with individuals and with cities while their probation continues. In mercy He sends warnings to save them from wrath, just as He waited through centuries before giving Abraham and his posterity the land of Canaan because the iniquity of the Amorites was not yet full.

Yet wickedness can rise to a point where divine patience is exhausted and the Lord will certainly intervene. He has His way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and beyond that limit His judgments are sure to follow. When pleadings for mercy are no longer heard, those who persist in rejecting light are blotted out. This cutting off is an act of mercy both to themselves and to others who would otherwise be led astray by their example.
