Psalms 120:2

Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.

Psalm 120 was composed by David in the wilderness of Paran after the death of Samuel. He sang it in desolate wilds while seeking a place of greater security while Saul was engaged in mourning for Samuel. He sang it realizing the prophet was dead and the king was his enemy, feeling less secure because Samuel's death had broken another bond of restraint upon Saul's actions. This verse belongs to a psalm composed for the people to sing as they traveled to the national altar for the annual feasts.
