Psalms 125:3
For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity. For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.
The rod of wicked power shall not be left to rest and settle permanently upon the lot and portion of the righteous. Oppression is not allowed to continue indefinitely over them, but is bounded in duration and effect. This limit is imposed for their protection, lest under prolonged pressure the righteous be driven to stretch out their own hands into wrongdoing and sin.
God Himself sets the bound to that oppressive power, restraining what it can accomplish against His people. He preserves them under it, so that even persecution and death do not mean their overthrow.
