Praise the LORD; for the LORDis good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.
The call is directed to God's people to praise the Lord and to sing praises to His holy name because He is good. His goodness itself is the reason for praise, and that goodness is expressed as love toward His people and toward each person individually. Singing praises to His name is commanded as the response to that goodness and love. Such singing is pleasant, so that delight belongs to the act of praising His name. Praise is therefore the fitting response to the Lord's goodness and love.
