Psalms 135:7
He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries. He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries.
God actively governs the weather, causing vapors to ascend from the ends and far reaches of the earth, joining lightning to the rain, and bringing the wind forth from His treasuries and storehouses. When He utters His voice, a multitude of waters comes in the heavens above. The powers of nature do not continue in operation by a mechanism once set in motion, nor are they sustained by matter's own inherent power. By His word He is constantly employed in upholding what He has made, using the things He created as His servants to control the elements and provide for the earth. That continual care is seen in causing the sun to rise, in opening heaven and giving rain, in causing grass to grow upon the mountains, and in giving snow and frost.
His rule embraces all the forces of nature and directs the natural forces involved in weather, so that earthquakes, storms, tornadoes, and other natural disturbances are not beyond or outside His authority. He permits such calamities to awaken people and call them to their senses. In this He shows that He rules over creation and reveals through nature what His Word makes known.
