Psalms 136:20

And Og the king of Bashan: for his mercy endureth for ever:

This verse stands within the song of thanksgiving sung by the exiles after their return, exalting God as the Mighty Leader whose merciful providence both rescued Israel and sustained them in their need. It looks back to the overthrow of Og, king of Bashan, remembering that victory as one of the great mighty deeds for which Israel owed God grateful thanks. Its refrain proclaims that this deliverance proves God's mercy lasts forever.
