Psalms 136:23

Who remembered us in our low estate: for his mercy endureth for ever:

God remembered His people in their low estate, and His mercy endures forever. That remembrance was a celebration of merciful care toward the returned exiles. It was shown in bringing them back from captivity and in redeeming them from their enemies.

The same remembrance reaches humanity in its low estate of enslavement to sin. Christ remembered fallen humanity in that condition and redeemed it through His love and pity. He accomplished that redemption by bearing human sins and becoming a curse for sinners, so that His righteousness could be counted to them and healing could come by His stripes.
