Darkness cannot hide or cover anyone from God, for what is night around a person is light to Him, and darkness and light are alike to Him, as clear as daylight. Even night is light around Him, night shines as day, and no darkness hides from Him. He sees in secret places because He fills heaven and earth, and He is present even in the deepest darkness and solitude. Wherever a person is and whatever is done is done in His presence, with no part of conduct escaping observation and no ways hidden from the Most High.
Even when a person thinks night will conceal actions, no deed or sin is concealed, and no secret thought, motive, word, or plan is hidden from Him. Deeds concealed from family and associates are fully known to Him, for He sees through appearances and reads the inner life, with the motives of the heart open to divine inspection. God sees and hears all that is done and said. This seeing includes all dishonesty in planning, all unlawful appropriation in any degree of property or means, and all injustice in dealing with fellow men.

Unlike human laws, which though sometimes severe are often broken without detection and without punishment, the law of God is not so. A guilty one may think himself alone, yet every deed has an unseen witness. This truth calls parents to be watchful and faithful in their care of their children, and cherishing the habitual impression that God keeps this record brings fear to sin, especially when the young remember it at all times and places.
