Psalms 139:16
Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
God's eyes saw human substance while it was still imperfect, unformed, and in secret, with nothing of its fashioning hidden from Him. In His book all the members of the body were planned, known, and recorded in continuance as they were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them, showing His complete foreknowledge of human formation. This reveals a personal, self-existing God intimately present in forming man, whose power to create makes life dependent on Him and who is worthy of thought, praise, and adoration as Creator of the world and of man. People are fearfully and wonderfully made by their Creator, and the verse is evidence of that wonderful making.
God formed man in His own image with a perfectly arranged but lifeless form, then breathed into the nostrils the breath of life so that man became a living, breathing, intelligent being and every bodily part and faculty was brought into action. That living body includes heart, arteries, veins, tongue, hands, feet, and perceptions of mind and senses placed under physical law, with understanding given by God's inspiration. Man thus endowed with intelligence and power is the crowning work of creation to express God's thought and reveal His glory through Jesus Christ. God formed the child with wisdom and skill so its natural form and proportions are rightly made, and attempts to change them by pressure are harmful.
