Psalms 140:13

Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.

Joined to the promise that God maintains the cause of the afflicted and the right of the poor, the verse assures the afflicted and the poor that God upholds their cause and will support them. The righteous respond to that caring support by giving thanks to His name, which gives the afflicted reason for gratitude.

The upright shall dwell in His presence, living with Him. That dwelling is the final hope of the redeemed, assuring the afflicted that suffering will end in deliverance and life with God. It is to be taken as a personal desire to be among those finally redeemed.
