Psalms 146:8

The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous:

Trust and hope belong to the Lord rather than to human beings or princes, because when a person's breath departs his thoughts and plans come to nothing that very day. Happy is the one who has the God of Jacob for help and whose hope is in the Lord. This helper is the God of Jacob and the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them, who keeps truth forever. Within that identity the verse means that God gives sight to the blind, lifts up those who are bowed down, and loves the righteous, that is, those who do right.

The same care in the surrounding verses defends the oppressed, feeds the hungry, frees prisoners, preserves strangers, relieves the fatherless and widow, turns the way of the wicked upside down, and reigns forever through all generations as the One worthy of praise. Jesus fulfilled the promise about lifting those who are bowed down in His ministry by lifting the downcast, bringing hope to the downcast, and comforting the sorrowful.

Therefore people are to act under God's supervision, accept His standard, bring every decision and plan to Him for approval, and let His holiness and justice keep them from unprincipled and oppressive actions. The verse gives strong encouragement to every tempted soul to depend on God for every personal need, to let thank offerings flow from a grateful heart, to talk faith and practice faith, and never to dishonor God by unbelief or by a harsh spirit.
