Psalms 147:14

He maketh peace in thy borders, and filleth thee with the finest of the wheat.

The promise belongs to the joy of return from captivity and to the triumphs of rebuilding and dedicating the second temple. He makes peace within the borders of His people, giving them security. That inward peace expresses His purpose for domestic tranquillity within a nation. He fills them with the finest of the wheat, giving abundant food as blessing from Him.

The pledge of the finest wheat is not a pledge of the finest flour, and it does not endorse choosing refined flour.

The finest wheat is the Bible, yielding like harvest fields to study. It is kept as the seed of faith so that whoever sows shall reap, and it gives strength for each day as precious sheaves that receive no rust. It opens hope like a telescope with visions of golden grain waving on every plain, and it gives rest that all seekers find and bind with joy. It gathers in love where angels above and saints below shall meet when Christ comes to harvest home, and it is held as the Shepherd's crook from His throne at the mercy-seat as truth free from chaff.
