Psalms 147:7

Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God:

The verse is a call to sing to the Lord with thanksgiving and to sing praise to God. That praise includes singing praise upon the harp to God. The call stands among descriptions of divine power and care in providing rain, growing plants, and feeding creatures.

The call answers His care for the brokenhearted and the meek and His great power and infinite understanding, so that those who fear Him and hope in His mercy have reason to praise Him. The grateful praise answers His great power and care in that He heals the brokenhearted, numbers and names the stars, lifts up the meek, and takes pleasure in those who fear Him and hope in His mercy. Study of the psalm's lessons on His worthiness to be praised with thanksgiving is valuable.
