Fire, and hail; snow, and vapour; stormy wind fulfilling his word:
Fire, hail, snow, vapor, and stormy wind are God's own agencies and works in nature, serving Him by fulfilling His word. By that fulfilling of His word they are summoned and called to praise and honor Him. Even as nonliving forces they thereby bear witness to His majesty and glory.
God Himself summons and directs these forces to carry out His word. That directing extends to sending them to overthrow His enemies. The call belongs to a wider summons for all creation to praise God, in which birds also join in praising Him.
