Psalms 150:5

Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

In ancient times praising God upon the harp and cymbal belonged to religious services as part of worship. The call is to praise with loud, high-sounding cymbals, showing that instrumental music is a fitting means of praising God. Its use is not objectionable, but has its rightful place in religious services today.

God wants His people to possess musical instruments and to use them to praise Him with heart and soul and voice, magnifying His name before the world. Instrumental music joins voices and songs of praise and devotion in glorious harmony offered to God. When offered with beauty, devotion, and harmony, that united harmony ascends to Him as an acceptable offering.

The instruments are to be played skillfully, with skillful handling and skilled playing. The use of music in the service is to be carefully conducted, and the song service is to be carefully conducted. Whenever possible the whole congregation should join in singing praise, as often as possible. Bringing the talent of singing into the work and giving singing and instrumental music its place in worship services now will add to the interest.
