Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and sheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.
God rescued David from his enemies and set him firmly on the throne, and in that deliverance Israel itself was lifted to greatness. The triumph was not David's own doing but a great deliverance granted to the king by God. To His anointed He showed enduring loving-kindness, a steadfast mercy that did not end with one victory. That mercy rested on David and reached beyond him to his descendants, securing blessing to his seed forevermore.
