Psalms 18:8

There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

The smoke going up, the devouring fire from the mouth, and the coals kindled by it portray anger and a mighty, overwhelming, earth-shaking power in intervention. That fierceness is a coming to aid, a response that answers the cries of the oppressed and the one in need.

The same shaking earth with smoke, fire, and kindled coals expresses the divine wrath and power accompanying the suffering and death of Christ on the cross.
