In its fulfillment the verse describes Christ in the time of His suffering, surrounded and beset on every side by hostile men. The many bulls and the strong bulls of Bashan are the enraged mob that closed in around Him. They mocked Him and abused Him, pressing Him on all sides. They gaped upon Him with open mouths, like a roaring lion ready to tear its prey.
