This is the generation of those who seek God and who seek His face, and their seeking is most earnest seeking of the Lord. It is done with brokenness of heart and with humble confession that comes out of darkness, with prayer, and with praise and thanksgiving under the deep movings of the Spirit. Upon their minds presses continually the thought of what would be should Christ come.
The verse reveals the greatness of God and the rule of Christ, and therefore all must take their stand under the rule of Christ rather than work on the side of Satan. Those who instead give themselves to anarchy and to war and strife incur a fearful loss, for at the last great day they will see how many souls were lost through their failure to stand under Christ.
