David Washes His Hands Before the Altarby emmanuel_higgins

Psalms 26:6

I will wash mine hands in innocency: so will I compass thine altar, O LORD:

The words are the answer of sinners to God's continuing call to come humbly to Him in Christ, to repent, be converted, and turn from sin. Washing the hands in innocency is desiring and resolving to live in moral purity, uprightness, and innocence. Circling the altar is drawing near to God in committed worship. That worship includes thanksgiving and telling of His wondrous works, as the next verse adds.

For the young, this washing in innocency means moral purity shown in words and conduct. It is to appear in treating others kindly and in helping them. By such kindness and helpfulness they form character fit for heaven.
