Psalms 26:9

Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men:

The prayer asks God not to gather or count the speaker together with sinners, and not to reckon his life with bloody men. It is a plea against being numbered among the violent and bloodthirsty, whose deeds are violence. In this it expresses a desire to remain separate from the company of the wicked and from their way of life. That separation is sought in view of the danger of being grouped with men who commit violence.
