Psalms 27:6

And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

After finding shelter with God in trouble, the believer is lifted up above the enemies surrounding him, with confidence and gladness resting in divine protection and salvation. The fitting response to that deliverance is joyful worship in His tabernacle or sanctuary, bringing sacrifices of joy and singing praises to the Lord.

The verse points to the triumph of the righteous in everlasting protection and salvation secured for them through the merits of Christ. On the day when every person receives according to his works, their heads will be lifted above their enemies round about them, and songs of joy will burst from their lips as they recall all that God has done for His people. Until that day of final triumph comes, it is the privilege of every trusting believer to sing these words now in confidence.
