Psalms 28:3
Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts. Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.
The wicked and workers of iniquity speak peace to their neighbors while mischief and evil intent remain in their hearts, and the gulf between their friendly words and their harmful intentions is the means by which they deceive those around them. The verse is an inspired prayer asking God not to draw the speaker into the company or way of such deceitful wicked people. It is a plea not to be counted or swept away with the wicked and workers of evil, not to be drawn away with them, and not to share their fate. In connection with verse 4, endeavors means doings, and the psalmist asks the Lord to deal justly with such people, leaving them in his hands.
The warning reaches those who have outwardly separated from other denominations yet may still follow them into formalism. The same contrast marks those who speak of good times ahead and say their Lord delays His coming. By rejecting the truth about Christ's return they are left unprepared and in darkness when He comes.
