Psalms 31:2

Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me.

God is a strong rock and a house of defense who bends down to listen, delivers quickly, protects, and saves. His hearing is attentive toward those in need, and His rescue is both speedy and sure. To be that rock is to be a place of defense where safety is found.

He saves by His own might and power, spreading Himself as a shield over those who put their trust in Him and hide themselves in Him. That shielding preserves both life and work from destruction. Even when Satan wills the extinction of life, He preserves it again and again.

When men refuse to work in accordance with the light given, He still orders the way, manages matters, opens the way forward, and works in other ways to bring the prosperity needed for His work. Those who trust Him are to acknowledge His power as their wisdom and sufficiency. They are to keep calm with the mind stayed on Him, walk in humility, and take courage in His mercy, kindness, and keeping power.
