God's wisdom is greater than human wisdom, so human schemes cannot overturn His purposes.
At Babel this was shown when God's sovereign power laid low the works of human pride and thwarted the builders' plans. That enduring counsel is an expression of God's goodness and His work for the good and happiness of the human family, and He works for His own cause. Human plans that oppose His will bring unhappiness, suffering, and disappointment.
That lasting counsel gives reason to trust in God, rejoice in Him, and hope in His mercy rather than fear human accusations or judgment. It calls people to reflect the divine image in thought and deed rather than advance self, because the Lord refines and purifies the heart, mind, and life.
