Psalms 35:15
But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not: But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:
In adversity the afflicted one is set upon by adversaries who gather together against him, rejoice over his misfortune, and tear at him without ceasing. As prophecy this is a revelation of Christ's inner experience in his conflicts with the enemy, opening a glimpse into the suffering that lay behind the outward events of his life.
The imprecation is an expression of God's justice and not of personal temper or desire for revenge. The meek may likewise be met in adversity with sudden reproach and hostile mocking as men combine against them, and the lesson is to endure such assaults quietly and not to repay insult with anger or revenge.
