Psalms 35:19
Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause. Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.
The words find their fulfillment in Christ, whose enemies hated him for no just reason. Their unjustified hatred answers exactly to what the verse describes. Among those haters were the scribes and Pharisees, who had heard John's testimony concerning him and had seen his works with their own eyes. Yet pride and unbelief, together with envy and jealousy, moved them to hate both Christ and his Father.
