A Family Drinks from a Mountain Springby emmanuel_higgins

Psalms 36:6

Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast.

The verse belongs to a declaration of God's loving-kindness, faithfulness, righteousness and judgments, affirming that His mercy is in the heavens and His faithfulness reaches to the clouds. His righteousness being like the great mountains means it is vast and firm, standing immovable and enduring. His judgments being a great deep means they are profound, vast and unfathomable, beyond searching and measuring. The Lord preserves man and beast, showing His watchful, protective care for people and animals, especially for those who trust in Him.

His excellent lovingkindness gives the children of men reason to put their trust under the shadow of His wings, and the verse is the voice of those who come to Christ for protection, where they are accepted, warmed and defended and find refuge. Those who so trust have mercies and blessings prepared for them, and are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of His house and made to drink of the river of His pleasures, for with Him is the fountain of life and in His light light is seen and life is received. With them His lovingkindness is continued to those who know Him and His righteousness to the upright in heart, and they are kept from the foot of pride and the hand of the wicked.

The grace the verse describes attends faith which works by love to purify the soul from defilement, giving those who receive Christ power to become sons of God by a miracle-working power that transforms character and proves the efficacy of His blood as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. His righteousness remains a source of blessing, sending streams that refresh the earth. To bind up with worldlings in secret societies is manifest distrust of the God the verse describes, like inquiring of and depending on the gods of Ekron. Knowledge of what the verse shows about God's righteous character and decisions belongs to the glad experience that all may gain by receiving God's word through nature and through revelation.
