Psalms 38:12
They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long. They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.
The Hebrew word rendered life is nephesh, which is most commonly rendered soul. Here it denotes life itself, for the speaker's foes are seeking to take his life and are plotting against him. In this use it stands for a person's life or individual existence.
The verse portrays enemies who seek after the speaker's life and lay snares for him. Those same foes seek his hurt, speak mischievous things against him, and imagine deceits all the day long. Their plotting is continual, devising harm and deceit without ceasing.
Prophetically this pictures Christ, whose enemies plotted against His life and sought His harm. It reveals the danger that surrounded Him and the inner struggles He faced. By this picture His feelings during His sufferings and temptations are made known.
