David Weeps for Absalom as Joab Looks Onby emmanuel_higgins

Psalms 38:7

For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh.

David's loins being filled with a loathsome disease and his having no soundness in his flesh describe severe bodily suffering endured in mourning under the weight of sin and distress. The psalm to which the verse belongs demonstrates that conscience was active under the Old Testament even though the word conscience does not appear there. The verse also gives a prophetic view of Christ's inner experience and suffering, making known what he felt in his struggles with the enemy.
