Psalms 40:5

Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

The many wonderful works done and the thoughts directed toward people are too numerous to be counted. They cannot be reckoned up in order, and even when one would declare and speak of them they remain more than can be numbered or fully described. This praise belongs to a song in which the sufferer's cry is heard, the one crying is rescued, the steps are established, and a song of praise is given to sing, so that others may see and put their trust in the Lord.

The redeemed praise God for his care and his saving acts shown in these many wonderful works and thoughts toward them. When assailed by harmful speech, Christ answered with this same praise for God's works and care.
