Psalms 41:2

The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

The promise belongs to the person who considers and cares for the poor, that the Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, will bless him upon the earth, and will not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. He is preserved and sustained, kept alive, blessed in this life and in the land, protected from being handed over to his enemies and to their desires. The same assurance belongs to those who minister to people in distress and in need.

It applies to those who do what God requires by ministering to, caring for, and serving people in need, distress, and affliction. It embraces giving to them and ministering to them, using one's means to benefit suffering humanity and to relieve the poor. It is connected with showing mercy and practical help to the suffering and oppressed.

Giving to those in need is an investment entrusted to the Lord, who repays it and provides security in trouble. The promise also includes care in sickness and suffering, when God strengthens the languishing person and tends to him in his illness.
