Psalms 43:2

For thou art the God of my strength: why dost thou cast me off? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

God is the strength of His people, the one from whom all true power to endure and overcome is drawn. To call Him the God of strength is to acknowledge that firmness under trial does not arise from within but is received from Him. When that vision of God is lost sight of, the soul is left without its support and becomes separated from the very strength it needs. In that weakened and sightless condition, people are easily bewildered by the deceptions of Satan and unable to discern his workings.
