Psalms 44:12

Thou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price.

Psalm 44 presents Israel in a backslidden yet persecuted condition. Within that portrayal God is shown as giving over his people to be sold for nothing, receiving no increase of wealth and no benefit from the price of their suffering and loss. In that setting the psalm stands as encouragement for the downcast. Its image of God's people counted as sheep for slaughter is taken up by Paul in Romans 8 to declare that through Christ's love they are more than conquerors despite such trials.
