A Defeated Soldier Cries Out to Heavenby emmanuel_higgins

Psalms 44:9

But thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies.

The verse states that God had rejected His people and exposed them to disgrace by refusing to accompany their military forces into battle. This casting off and putting to shame is shown in His no longer going forth with their armies, leaving them without divine aid in war. The psalm belongs to the time of Hezekiah, standing in connection with the invasion of Sennacherib and the destruction of the Assyrian host.
