Psalms 45:7
Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
The verse describes Christ, who loves righteousness and hates wickedness and therefore was anointed by God with gladness above His fellows. The anointing with the oil of gladness is the Holy Spirit and power. From Christ's fullness the church on earth receives the Spirit, which He is ready to impart fully to those who come to Him wholeheartedly. Those who accept His invitation to learn of Him are promised this anointing with gladness. It comes by receiving Christ and learning from Him how to live His life, a pure and holy life free from any taint of sin, with power given to become sons of God.
His followers are to love the righteousness He loves and hate the iniquity He hates, and this likeness transforms their character. Loving righteousness and hating iniquity mark a true servant of God, are the great business of life and the defining work, and are qualities God approves. That love must be shown by choosing faithful duty over ease, pleasure, and worldly success that would cost eternal interests. Children should be taught to cherish love for righteousness and hatred of evil. When Christ is all to His followers, they do not idolize people or let anyone obscure their view of God.
