Israelites Burn the Weapons of Gogby emmanuel_higgins

Psalms 46:9

He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

God himself makes wars cease to the end of the earth by breaking the bow, cutting the spear in two, and burning the chariot in the fire, destroying the weapons and chariots of his enemies. This promise belongs with the works of the Lord to be beheld, together with God as refuge and strength and very present help in trouble, with God in the midst of his people and the Lord of hosts with them. Judah's deliverance from its attacking armies fulfilled this picture, when God proved himself their refuge and strength by fighting for them, giving them reason to rejoice and sing of his power.

Wars will cease throughout the earth when Jesus takes the kingdoms and takes possession of the kingdom under the whole heavens and judges among the nations and rebukes many peoples, as part of his coming rule. That ending of war is part of Christ's coming rule when he takes possession of the kingdom. It comes when he takes and possesses the kingdom under the whole heavens.

The verse gives reason not to fear though the earth be removed and the heathen rage and kingdoms be moved. It gives reason not to look on the dark side or speak despondency amid sadness, satanic opposition, and pressure to block the way and hedge up the way. It calls believers to be settled and grounded in the truth, to hold fast the Word of God, and to keep prayers ascending. It calls them to grasp infinite power by union with the source of all power, to stay united without criticism or sowing discord and tares, and to keep bearing testimony and preaching the gospel to every creature as the great and only principle of the world's regeneration as long as life lasts.
