God is King over all the earth, ruling the whole world as His dominion. Praise to Him is to be given with understanding, intelligently and thoughtfully rendered in recognition of His kingship. This was seen when Christ ascended to heaven as King, borne upward with the heavenly host attending Him. That ascent was proclaimed with shouts and the sound of the trumpet and celebrated with songs of praise.
That kingly power is terrible to transgressors, able to fill them with fear. Yet He regards even those transgressors with compassion rather than mere condemnation. He longs for them to turn from sin and be saved.
