Psalms 47:9
The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted. The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted.
The rulers and the peoples of the earth are under God's rule and authority, and He is greatly exalted above them. The shields that belong to God are the earth's kings and protectors. He watches over those whose decisions shape the fate of nations and is able to direct rulers' hearts to accomplish His purposes, as when He moved Cyrus to set the Jews free and to support the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem. With equal care He watches over both monarch and poor person.
