David Prays at Dawn Facing the Tabernacleby emmanuel_higgins

Psalms 5:2

Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.

The verse is a prayer pleading for God to hear and attend to the voice of the supplicant's cry. In that plea He is acknowledged at once as sovereign King and as God, joining royal authority with divine personhood. The speaker resolves and declares that prayer will be directed to Him alone, making Him the chosen object of worshipful petition. This utterance belongs to the experience of those who receive Christ and believe in Him as their Redeemer.
