David Prays at Dawn Facing the Tabernacleby emmanuel_higgins

Psalms 5:3

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

In the morning the speaker directs prayer to the Lord as King and God and looks up to Him in trust and expectant waiting. This is a regular turning to God, with prayer offered at the beginning of the day. It also belongs within a life of continual prayer in which the heart asks God for guidance and support in dependence on divine aid.

It means resolving with new purpose of heart to direct prayer to God in the morning, rousing from the paralysis of slumber to no longer seek own pleasure but to follow Christ who lived not to please Himself, redeeming the short time and working quickly to gather up the fragments so that nothing is lost. Praying to God in the morning in this way is drawing near to God, and God will then draw near in return. This experience belongs to God's children who receive and believe in Christ as their Redeemer. It promises that the Lord hears the voice of morning prayer, and this is a precious comforting assurance to be read and relied upon for encouragement and consolation for those who are sick and dying and in distress.
