Psalms 5:4

For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.

God is pure and holy, taking no delight or pleasure in wickedness. Because He is such, evil cannot dwell with Him. The foolish workers of iniquity are hated by Him and cannot stand in His sight. That He does not at once deal with corrupt men according to their corrupt ways shows great forbearance, for otherwise no one could live before Him or in His sight.

A man who daily debases himself by secret indulgence and vile practice cannot venture into His presence to ask for healing and increased strength, because strength so vilely squandered would only be consumed upon lust. If his case is carried before God while he is still practicing iniquity and regarding it in his heart, God will not hear and will not answer with a miracle of healing. Yet the same declaration stands as a comforting assurance and a promise to be relied upon by people in distress, including the sick and the dying.
