Psalms 5:6

Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.

God will destroy those who speak lies and falsehood, and He abhors the person who is violent and deceitful. This is the Lord's settled opposition to wickedness, directed both against lying speech and against bloody, deceitful character. The verses around it set forth that opposition to evil as assurance, making the whole passage one of comfort for those who are in distress.

Truthful and righteous speech is thereby made a distinguishing mark that separates righteousness from unrighteousness. Speech is a trust carrying great responsibility, because the tongue can be employed for good and can also be employed for evil.
