Psalms 52:3

Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.

The man described stands in selfish independence, trusting in himself instead of making God his strength. He refuses to stand under the rule of Christ, and by that refusal places himself on Satan's side. His settled character is to prefer evil to good and falsehood to righteous speech. His fearful loss, with the souls lost through his failure, will be laid open at the last great day. In contrast stands the other man, who chooses God as his guide and trusts in the mercy of God forever.
